And we expect these kids to deal with adulthood, a family and a job? With a social life as the most important aspect of their life, they are doomed to failure.
We now get a peek at how this country, and Canada, is in the position we’re in.
Most students will meet the expectations required of them. Set them high, they will strive to acheive them. Set them low and they will still just meet them.
The current “educational” concept seems to be: who needs reading, writing, math, science and history when you have a social live, google and (anti)social media. To think that many thing teachers are underpaid for this level of performance.

The U.S. Surgeon General just came out with a strong warning about our kids and social media. https://www.edweek.org/leadership/the-u-s-surgeon-generals-warning-about-social-media-and-what-it-means-for-schools/2023/05
As a teacher, I’ve seen saw any point in homework knowing that my students’ home situations don’t always facilitate homework as well as the students themselves who are not interested in continuing with schoolwork outside of classrooms. If I need my students to practice and demonstrate their comprehension, I have them do in class, not at home. I am one of few teachers who don’t blindly follow a lesson plan or a curriculum. I adapt to my students’ progress. Blindingly following a plan, teachers fail their students that way by not measuring/evaluating their progress and instead, grade them based on missed schoolwork and test grades.

It can’t possibly be Elizabeth’s fault that she’s so focused on her boyfriend that she has no time for Dawn /sarcasm

Nice to see Elizabeth help with the filing.
BTW, with the amount of homework some schools dish out on a daily basis, it’s a wonder that today’s kids even HAVE a social life!!

I’m not a fan of homework. Even working from home feels a little intrusive to me. Home is not work.

Will Dawn leave school to become a stripper who one day has a secret liaison with a U.S. President only to get paid off?
Will Jill become the first female goalie in the NHL?
Will Terry and Even run away, start a commune and have 27 children before stating a successful marijuana farm in British Columbia?
Will Meghan graduate high school go to drama school, come a television and film actress and go on to star in the role as Red Riding Hood/Ruby?
Will Elizabeth figure out that she is stretched too thin and needs to learn that there is more to life than the mall and a boyfriend?
Will Ms Edwards win the 200 meeter dash in the world para-olympics?
Stay tuned for the answers to these and other pressing questions tomorrow on
As The Teenager Turns.

So social life, aka going to the mall and talking on the phone, is more important than education?

Heaven forbid we let social life interfere with our education and life career path. LOL…

While Elizabeth is whining; Miss Edwards sure has the thousand yard stare.
Maybe Miss Edwards listened to Calvin’s idea and taped fake eyes to her head to look like she is paying attention.
