    From Wikipedia:

The Gold Rush is a 1925 American silent comedy film written, produced, and directed by Charlie Chaplin.

IIRC, the famous scene of Chaplin’s Tramp as a starving Yukon prospector eagerly eating his boiled shoe was done with a shoe made of licorice. Different Internet sources claim different unpleasant consequences.

Stan Laurel did it too, but at gunpoint, and he didn’t enjoy it.
