I like the “pun” for one day at a time (show Valerie was in).

I hear she’s opening a cooking school.

The best student will graduate valeriedictorian.

I like the way Janis relaxes when she realises it’s one of Arlo’s rants. Nothing to be concerned about.

I had to Google her. I didn’t realize she had a non-competitive cooking show on the food channel.

Her show was in yesterday’s listing. Maybe reruns?

Namby-pamby cooking shows sharing tips bore me to death. But I’ll watch the competitions.

My teenage crush. I have her cookbook. She signed it.

My nieces tried to get my brother in law and me to have a cooking challenge. No way, we like each other too much to do that.

I dislike cooking shows like that; actually any show like that. I don’t mind hearing constructive criticism, but scathing derision of a contestant is both unnecessary and uncalled for. What is bothersome to me is the proliferation of these shows, which I interpret as meaning there is a large population who want to see others demeaned and belittled. I could be wrong, yet I wonder.

My wife likes the great British baking show, precisely because the contestants are all nice to each other.

I assume these “cooking” shows are on ?TV? Can’t one change the ?channel?.

Little? Last time I saw her on tv she looked to be about a XXXXL.

I remember when shows on the Food Network actually taught you to make real food.

I live to see someone smack Gordon Ramsay with a sack of flour, some eggs, and then throw him on the griddle.

My wife constantly watches cooking shows. A good way to get me out of the room. The only one I’ll watch (part of) is Savoring Our Faith with Fr. Leo Patalinghug. He goes to some pretty interesting places.

It’s the norm. Everything is cutthroat competition. Where’s the commercial value in just being helpful to others.

Once again, I quote Newton Minnow, Chairman of the FCC back in the 1960’s. This is what he had to say about it:

“When television is good, nothing—not the theater, not the magazines or newspapers—nothing is better. But when television is bad, nothing is worse. I invite each of you to sit down in front of your television set when your station goes on the air and stay there for a day without a book, without a magazine, without a newspaper, without a profit and loss sheet or a rating book to distract you. Keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland.”

The only cooking competition show I ever found appealing was the original, Japanese version of “Iron Chef.” Two top professional chefs, limited time, and a featured ingredient that had to be used. Entertaining, and you could learn from their creativity and technique.

I used to watch them back 47 years ago. Lost interest.

The operative word being “rage.”

I hated it when they cancelled little Valerie. She was such a hottie.

The show Cutthroat Kitchen was canceled a couple of years back, so I’m not sure that’s entirely true.

Don’t understand the appeal of any shows on that network.
