DON’T THROW IT OUT!! No matter how much better the replacement product is, it’s production & transportation are still net negatives. Once you purchased the product the harm has been done, now use it up and do better next time.
The people who deride child labor in less developed countries never bother to figure out how to feed them once they are no longer employed. The world cannot sustain 380 million people living at the US standard.8 billion would collapse it in months.
I know palm oil shows up in a lot of processed foods, but I’ve never seen a bottle of it on sale in a store. What’s the problem with palm oil? The problem with palm oil is how and where oil palm is grown — too often, on tropical forests or peatlands. The conversion of these carbon-rich landscapes to monoculture oil palm plantations has made Indonesia one of the top emitters of greenhouse gasses, primarily due to land-use change.
You know, we can google lots of things nowadays…we can find arguments for and against just about anything out there. So, don’t just take the word of a comic strip…feel free to look up the pros and cons of palm oil and decide for yourself.
