Ticked him off

Running from ticks doesn’t work. They stick to you like… you know.

Jason couldn’t walk the walk.

Even here in beautiful downtown Burbank, I see a coyote wandering the streets, now & then .. or — more rarely — a deer.

When I was a teenager, a friend of my parents had a tick on his thigh. Since I was a Boy Scout, he figured I’d know what to do to get rid of it, so he asked me. I told him there were two methods. First, you can put oil on it (any oil will do). The tick won’t be able to breath, and will come out to get air. The second method is to light a match, let it burn for a while, then blow it out and touch it to the tick while it’s still hot. The tick will come out to get away from what’s burning it. Either way, you can then brush the tick off. He said he didn’t have any oil, but asked if aftershave would work. I said I didn’t know, but it couldn’t hurt to try, so he did. It had no effect, so he tried the second method. Then, while he was frantically beating his thigh, and everyone else in the room was laughing their head off, I was yelling “No! No! You’re supposed to put the match out first!”

You want wildlife, come up to northern lower Michigan. We’ve got deer, Mallards, wolverines, raccoons, squirrels, woodpeckers, opossums and more. There’s enough wildlife to make you turn back around and stay in the city.

If he had more than one tick, it would be poly-tics.

Next time try the Zoo…

He should try suburbia in my town. I have seen deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, hawks, black bears, coyotes and foxes right in my yard. My husband spotted a bobcat once, and the neighbors say that a mountain lion and rattlesnakes are sometimes spotted down the hill next to an open space.

My dog encountered a rattlesnake yesterday. Luckily it was already dead.

They could have at least tried going to a park…

Imagination would be a wonderful thing in this nature hike scenario, but the boys would rather see the real thing…

Jason just set a new record for the 100m dash.

Lymes Disease is carried by ticks, really smart kid to beat the dust outa there…

What a coincidence, just 15 minutes ago my son found a tick on the glass of the front door, fortunately on the outside. It’s dead now.

Stay home, Jason, and observe your family’s morning habits.

Jason, you can go to Yellowstone and see all those animals in one location. Although when I was there, we were told that if you see a mountain lion, it’s likely too late because they’ve been stalking you.

Tick bite can do more long term damage than a rattlesnake.
