On my last job, I worked 100% remote. (I chose to be paid hourly so I could enjoy non-paid time off). I did work from my hospital bed. I was waiting for an operation much later in the afternoon and had nothing better to do.
Think I actually established a precedent once. As “managers” (we engineers were) we had extensive personal/sick time. Our engineering group had many young guys. More than a few took days off when their wives were in labor. One year I listed the days I took for vacation, and my boss asked me about my absence on two particular days. Those happened to be days that we drove to a distant airport to pick up our foreign-born children that we intended to adopt. When I pointed that out (and the standard practice for biological births), my boss agreed that those were “personal days” and not vacation. Don’t know that it ever applied to anyone else. But I thought that he did the proper thing and applauded him for it.

All I needed was a laptop and WiFi.
