Took a guided tour through a distillery many years ago, when we got to the Washbacks ~(Fermentation tanks) there was a wee sparrow sitting on the floor, obviously affected by the fumes, I came to one side of it, a tourist to the other. It turned and looked up at me, then to the tourist, it’s befuddled brain finally reaching the conclusion “I shouldn’t be here”. Took off and tried to fly out of the window, careering side to side as it did so. It was the only time I ever saw a bird stagger as it flew……
