Makes me think of the kid that got rousted by the FBI because he had submitted a schematic for a nuclear device (bomb) to his professor. They had to let him go however because his bibliography listed every single public source and all he really did was just logically piece it together into a coherent diagram and outline. Not so secret after all
There was a movie in the mid 1980s titled The Manhattan Project about a high school prodigy who builds an atomic bomb with stolen plutonium to win the 45th National Science Fair and expose a nuclear weapons lab posing as a nuclear medical research facility in Ithaca, NY. The punchline at the end of the movie “I’m getting a C, you should see what the ‘A’ students are doing.” You cannot find the movie online or in any store. It was suppressed.
I remember when nuculer…er…nuclear power was becoming a thing, (yeah…that old, unfortunately)…and it was being touted as our energy cure-all. It (supposedly) would be totally clean, and so cheap to generate that everyone’s power bill would be virtually nil. Ahhhh…we can dream, can’t we??

Unfortunately, the majority of attention and funding for that school goes to Sports. Now, if he were “gifted” in football or basketball …

I’m thinking that teacher wouldn’t know a nuclear reactor if it “dirty bombed” her whole neighborhood.

I have always suspected that glitter was radioactive, simply based on it’s half-life.
