/// This complex work of art which we see

is, in fact, the first version of three.

    Not exactly the same,

    “Modern Rome” is their name.

    (“Modern” from the eighteenth century.)

/// They show dozens of works on display

in a gallery, back in the day.

    Oils of Rome’s greatest sites

    surround sculpted delights;

it’s a tour de force scene to portray.

Somebody had a fetish for buildings. I’m surprised he didn’t have a painting of the Taj Mahal (Man’s Biggest Erection for a Woman)

If you wanted to enjoy views of the city, it might have been cheaper to just put in a couple windows.

This is the pitiful result when your works don’t sell because you’re a failed architect and lousy artist.

Before the advent of cellulous and fiberglass, Art Insulation was the best you could do. Painters who laid it on thick with pallet knives were favored.

Sure, it had been painstakingly difficult and hideously expensive to assemble and mount so much artwork… but the alternative would have been to give in on his wife’s choice of wallpaper, and Henri would never do that.

The art school’s rule is that students have to do two dozen paintings. This artist graduated in one week.

Picture Gallery with Views of Modern Rome

    Paste (including the quote marks)

"Category:Modern Rome (Giovanni Paolo Pannini)" site=commons.wikimedia.org

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found and once there find the text string Google, and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this huge painting.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3129 (May 10, 2023) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger, if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there (awaiting Mr. Melcher’s approval) pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. First work by this artist used here.
