You could try combining them: if it’s reading, listen to an audio book; memorization, record it and play it on a loop; composition, do the first draft verbally and record it.

Depends which he’d rather do. Dish washing is repetitive but needs relatively short time and attention compared to reading a short story and/or doing math pages for next day.

When I was young I hated doing the dishes. I’ll turn 69 this year and for the last 30 years I notice that I don’t hate it any more. I find I can relax my mind while doing them.
