Earl has the human version of the Stop-Start system heretofore installed on motor vehicles. It automatically shuts off his consciousness when he is at rest to cut fuel use and eliminate idle emissions.
Sight is the most used of the senses. no noise, no sound. not feeling anything, no touch. if you are thin and not eating constantly no taste. no odors no smell, however the eyes always have something to see. They never stop working and even blind people blink so the movement every 4-5 seconds is always working (unless you are Wednesday Addams!)…
A wonderful trickI learned from my grandfather. He was a submariner, chief of the boat, in WW I. Submariners learned to grab sleep when ever they could, for they never knew when general quarters would be sounded. To this day I can fall asleep almost any where, at any time and grab a quick nap as needed.
I sleep about 4-6 hours a night but need more. I end up napping some times to catch up, but would prefer to get more sleep at night. According to my adult child, “All old people nap.” She would too, if she had time.

Care for a chuckle? What’s the difference between a cat and a frog? A cat has nine lives but a frog croaks every night! :-)

Well aren’t you asleep during your little catnaps Earl (even if they are short)?

It’s easily explained:

When you are young you miss out on sleep . When you get older you make up for what was lost ;-)

I’ve been retired now for two years and I’m still paying off my sleep deficit.
Good thing I never had any student loans.

But are catnaps actually restful, recuperative? I am curious, but haven’t been able to figure out how to study them while asleep.
