Llama Cheese metamorphosing into a Fuzzikin pet, is that like real science?

“Belgian llama cheese” A punchline opens this comic, and then it gets funny. Nice work.

Dad looks forward to the day when older Alice will fondly remember her dad bringing her that fuzzy, albeit very smelly toy. That should be worth the 12 dollars.

But does it smell like feet?

Shoulda bought a really fresh durian. Let the neighborhood know when you’re gonna cut it.

She’ll quickly find out it’s not so interactive and that’ll be that.

I’ve always loved this one. Especially for being the rare one focused really entirely on the Otterloop Parents (Alice cameos, but she’s not the focus) I’m not saying it should’ve happened all the time, it’s Alice and Petey’s strip, but it’s nice to happen once in a while.

My eyes saw “Phoopy” in the 3rd panel. I think I prefer that. “I was hoping it would be good. Phoopy.”

One should know that Belgian llama cheese must be eaten immediately at the peak of ripeness.

I have relatives that would just cut the mold off and make broccoli soup or cheesy rice with it

Llamas are not indigenous to Belgium, so maybe they were milked in Peru, then the milk was shipped to Belgium, where it is turned into cheese. No wonder it is expensive.

Aside from Jeopardy! contestant Elspeth Green, this is the only other place that I have seen or heard that name.

Tasty cheeses are often also smelly cheeses; it goes with the territory. And that $12 lump o’ smelly cheese (back when Richard first created this vignette; today adjusted for inflation it would be probably double that cost, if not more) went green and moldy at just the right moment for Alice to appear suddenly and claim it as a pet named Elspeth.

I suspect Alice will lose all interest in Elspeth overnight, or surely in a few days, as it stinks up her room and her clothes….

That would be Dill. Lol!

Give it another day or two and Elspeth will walk and talk!
