Every economic system yields “optimal results” for somebody. The trick is to be one of the somebodies.

And leave it to Ron DeSantis to show us how capitalism really works! It’s all centered around those campaign donations….https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/forget-disney-ron-desantis-has-a-surprising-new-target/ar-AA1cyWiY?li=BBnbfcL

The only way to end war is to make copper and brass more expensive than the gains.

I worked for an industry that used massive amounts of (coil) steel, and the first panel is spot on.

“[T]he most oppressive government most people interact with is not associated with any political authority — it’s their employer. Retail stores routinely search employees’ belongings without a warrant, let alone any reason to think they’ve done wrong. They schedule shifts on short notice. They set rules for hair and makeup. Workers in warehouses and factories are constantly surveilled; even their trips to the restroom are regulated. If you’re lucky enough to work a white-collar job, you probably don’t suffer these sorts of intrusions. But you too can be dismissed at any moment. And that leaves you seriously insecure.”

Scott Hershovitz, discussing Elizabeth Anderson’s Private Government: How Employers Rule Our Lives (and Why We Don’t Talk about It).

Economists. The shame of academia and a disaster for the “Free World”.

FIY the neoliberal economists can’t do math. They drop all of the variables in their calculations. They are either stupid or can’t get the results they want by incorrectly dropping the variables. My choice is both.

Another FYI. There is no such thing as a Noble Prize in economics. It is an Honorary Noble Prize. The Economic Award is paid by the Swedish Central Bank. The Noble committees don’t even look at economics. They know that Alfred Noble considered “Economics” worthless and stupid.
