Please. Everyone knows the only time machine people need to experience is picking up Silver Age Flash books at their local comic book store. It automatically turns them into 10-year-olds reading on their front porch while snacking on cookies and milk, a leitmotif TB has used more than once.
When the local one screen cinema closed in my home town they had a farewell part and raffled and auctioned off the many mementos from the theatre. It was a sad yet fun event. No more ‘Toony’ Tuesdays
We used to have a gem of a single seat theater near where I grew up. Back in the 1990’s they “modernized” it to make 4 screens. They botched the job in that you could hear the movie playing in the theater next door. Sadly the theater went out of business and was torn down. In its place….a CVS.https://cinematreasures.org/theaters/8260
BACK IN THE 50’S I USED TO SWEEP THE SIDEWALKS AND CLEAN THE GUTTERS IN FRONT OF A BLOCK OF STORES EVERY SATURDAY MORNING IN SAN DIEGO. I GOT PAID ONE DOLLAR. THIS GOT ME IN THE CREST THEATER, BOUGHT MY POPCORN, SODA, AND CANDY. THEY PLAYED EITHER A CARTOON-O-THON OR A HORROR/SCI FI MOVIE. A GREAT TIME TO HAVE BEEN ALIVE.

Two panels. Four references to Lisa’s Story. Where’s her cardboard standup?

Love those old single screen theaters. Especially if they weren’t “modernized” in the past…

You know what this is building up to. The debut of Les in this strip. He’ll be attending the debut, count on it.

And what a great time machine it would be, to travel back into the memories of one’s youth. I’m in.

I can think of 3 within 1/2 hour of my house…there’s advantage to being skipped over during the strip malling of America
