She’s your mother, Cathy. It’s her job to humiliate you in public. EYEROLL

Took my adult daughter out to lunch at what I consider one of the cheaper sandwich shops, then we went to the Avengers in 3-D. Whole outing shot better part of $40.

I remember when I couldn’t wait to get out on my own and now that Mother is gone I wish I had spent more time with her. Thoose of you still have your MOMS, treasure your days with her. You will never get any more time with her.

Two words, Cathy. Subway. Well, okay, that’s one word. But it’s cheaper and good. And tell mom to ditch the apron in public. THAT’s embarrassing.

LOL lightenup about yesterday a.m. Keeping you on your toes is all. Morning Susan.

    hi mom!

Hope all is well. Off to sleep . . .

@lightenupCongratulations on the new position. And you are right. It is no longer your worry. Now that you have said it, you have to convince yourself to believe it – and that can be the hard part.Good luck with the new position. Please keep us informed as to how it works out.

My wife has a little of this in her. When we are out, especially on vacation, she will bring snacks from home and carry them the whole way even when walking (like through Disney World). Me, the extra cost for things is part of the cost of the vacation. Back when the kids were little and income was a lot less saving every penny made sense. Now, a couple of extra dollars spend on snacks or bottled water is not such a big deal – enjoying our time is far more important.

When you eat at a restaurant, you’re paying for the preparation, cooking, and cleaning, not just the food itself, so I could understand the reason it’s priced the way it is. That said, if I really like a dish I eat at the restaurant, I sometimes try to mimic it at home. Of course, there are some things you can’t mimic, like secret recipe items.

Oh geez, what’s up with the ranting in public AND the apron. Insensitive and creepy. Seriously creepy. I wouldn’t even let LMB read Cathy this time.

    What are moms for, huh?

Although, I must admit … I can’t argue with her logic today.

AACK!!!!! How embarrassing and appalling was that?!?!? Just because she’s Cathy’s mom, official “Queen of the Nut-jobs” (not to mention the biggest martyr on the planet!), doesn’t give her the right to humiliate her daughter that way in public just because she doesn’t agree with the prices on the menu! This is what happens — and the “thanks” you get — when you’ve got a mom like Cathy’s and you want to do something nice, like take her out to lunch. I am so glad my mother would never do anything like that to me!!! She’s 75 years old and pretty “old school” when it comes to manners. She’d probably rather die than say anything that would embarrass me, her or the waitress (whose job is to wait on us and give us a nice dining experience — not set the prices on the menu).

    HI AARON AND DR. BILLY!

lightenup: Glad you finally got out of the secretarial position and into that of V-P instead. I hope it works out better for you and is a lot less stressful. As for your good neighbor, John . . . sorry, but I hope his new position as secretary nets him his very own “John” who thinks he’s always right and won’t shut up long enough to let anyone else have an opinion . . . maybe someone like Bob, the previous president with the serious health issues you talked about last time, will fit the bill nicely! (Sorry! That was really BAD wasn’t it?!?!? I can just be so mean sometimes!!!!!)

    ;-)

Good evening to the 3 of you, K.F.G., Susan, rgcviper, gmforde, hendelca, lindz.coop, summerdog, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, soonergal, Gator007, legaleagle48 and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here tonight. As always, good to “see” you all!

Hi Cathyites!! As for Cathy, she is so right about the therapy costs — and I have room for some new clients if she would like to come in. I too can be price conscious, but that is taking it to the limit — definite EYEROLL %)

Congrats to lightenup on losing your headache job and gaining the promotion to an easier life! Good for you!!

Hi CATHY GANG!! I’m so late today! Aack! I went to lightenup jr’s class first thing this morning for a couple of hours to help out with a project, and the rest of the day just flew away from me. @ Aaron – Thank you for keeping me on my toes! I know you mean it with a good heart, so that’s great and I need it from time to time. :-)I’m so tired, but I wanted to say thank you to everyone for your comments to me. @ hendelca , you’re so right. Most of the day, I kept thinking that I had to check the HOA email and do stuff related to that, but I kept reminding myself “not your responsibility anymore”. Hard to give up the habits of the past year…@ GretchensMom – I love your catty comment about John. It made me LOL!! The funny thing is one of the new people on the board does rub John the wrong way and already things are tense with them. It’s nice to be the observer rather than the participant. :-)Hope you all have a good night! Tomorrow’s another busy day and both of my girls will be moving up to new levels in Girl Scouts – how exciting! Hugs to all of my friends here!
