I just visited my daughter in Texas for a week. Their (unheated) hot tub was a godsend. It was over 100°F the entire time.

Here in South Texas, I have a big ole Gulf Coast toad who lives in the self-wattering reservoir in a small planter on the porch. He spends every day up to his eyes in the water. Occasionally, he climbs out to sit beside the water but quickly gives it up and submerges himself. His bath is what’s called a Forsyth pot, a clay pot with the bottom hole plugged that’s buried in the soil. Water passed through the clay and keeps it moist. The evaporation keeps it cool. I don’t think you could blast him out of there. It’s so hot and dry, I have to top off his “pond” every day. To discover this haven, he had to climb six steps to the porch and then hop or crawl up into the planter.

About a decade ago I went to a BBQ. The host had the lawn chairs surrounding a kiddie pool. We were in shorts anyway, so we just removed our assorted footwear and sat with our legs from the knees down submerged. AMAZING aid to cooling.
