And that, right there, is the problem. The best argument against time travel is that nobody has ever come back to the past to tell us that it works. But it’s certainly been the fodder for a lot of great science fiction and a lot of good gags.
That is merely perception. The past influences the future, obviously. But less obvious, is the influence of the future on the past. We consider some ridiculously complex series of events to reach an unlikely future as being fate. But it is simply a phenomena similar to gravitation, where the future event has mass, and the progress of time bends toward it, both from the past and from the future.
The development of the atomic bomb changed the future, yes. But it also created the past which led to its development.
This makes me think of Amanda’s frequent visits from Young Amanda. I think the point being made is a little different…or maybe not, come to think of it.
From one of the “All Romances” covers on the Blog: I’m wondering what this sentence means: ‘My Soul Wasn’t My Own Sister Without Scruples.’ Pretty perplexing.
According to another doctor, "Time is subjective, not a fixed constant. People assume that time is a strict progression from cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it’s more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.” Also factoring into this are, where you are, who you are, and when you last had lunch with Zaphod Beeblebrox.
From the savagechickens item on the Blog: the cat must be watching the tarantula (?) at the bottom of the stairs, right? Like any smart critter, the cat is leaving itself a solid escape route. I don’t think this would deteriorate into a mongoose-and-cobra type death match. Would it?

Unless you have some kind of special magic, time travel is a one-way trip.

She must wear sun glasses, for the future is so bright, she becomes blinded by the light…
Inside out, backwards, and upside down..
The past? Is tense. Or was tense.

…so this is why history repeats itself…
…The Jilting of Granny Weatherall…
…alzheimer will get you there…
…but only the ghost stays in the future…
…I’ve had some favorite mistakes…
…and if I traveled back to the past…
…I’d really screw ’em up this time…
…on purpose…
…do it right this time …
…sink the Titanic…
…but faster this time…
…with bullets flying…
…and spaceships…
…like Dune, but on water…
…and I would definitely get naked at the picnic in the woods this time…
…and cheat on the Kobayashi Maru…
…and more cow bell…
…sp-ice is nice…
…but lick her is quicker…
