Ever see the inside of an ordinary garden hose? It’s nowhere near clean or healthful. Mold, mildew, bacteria, yeast; plus toxic chemicals, including lead, brominated fire retardants, BPA, and phthalates.
I grew up on a farm and we drank from the hose frequently. We also drank unpasteurized milk and rode bicycles without helmets. So many things that should have killed us
as a kid, sure, but now I realize when the hose is laying on the ground, all the bugs in the yard see it as a tunnel of shade and moisture. How many bugs have you drank without knowing it as a kid ?
I never cared for the taste of vinyl. Led pipes were not so tasty either. At least the asbestos cement pipes didn’t hurt the taste and added fiber to your diet!!
Lucky to be part of good old days when we would drink water from hose and take shower standing in front of irrigation pump pumping gallons of water with high pressure.
My father’s attitude about drinking from the hose was the important thing is, it is water. But, I could detect the taste of the material the hose was made with.

Wanda, Zoe i resent those remarks. Got a drink of water from the garden hose many times growing up.

Did that a lot, that or straight from the faucet. Never thought about what could have crawled in the hose.

We played outside barefoot during the summer, too. How DID we survive?? :)

Zoe is too Deva and prissy to drink from the water hose. Bet she won’t squat in the woods or use an outhouse either; too uncivilized.

Zoe forgets that being a constant tattle tale isn’t very civilized either.

When I was a kid in the 1960s I drank water from the garden hose. Now they say not to it’s not safe. Don’t know how everyone survived.
