“You, Too, Can Own A Successful Cartoon Franchise!”

Even a scam book will help you achieve greater heights if you stand on it.

The “self-help” industry is full of such volumes. In the end, most of them just end up sitting on the shelf, thus are actually “shelf-help” books. Or else they end up at Goodwill or D.I.

The Victoria secret was an intensive run of events as he became a character in his own cartoon strip tease. Watch out Superman he was on his way using the freeway.

I’m thinking that the author’s strategy works.

ABAA. That’s the deal. Only panel two varies the layout and color format, by introducing an orangey-red* ground superscript that squishes down the standard aquamarine thought balloon. See? Cartooning is really very easy if you follow the guidance given here.

BTW, I tried my hand at producing what would nowadays be called a graphic novel, albeit rather brief, when I was a mere stripling (It was a short space opera, hand-drawn in pencil on a peachy-orange paper). Turned out okay, I think, for my age-cohort.

*Also when I was a kid, we called this color “Chinese red”; I suspect that would be NOT ALLOWED today (“racist,” vel sim.)

$25 & time lesson. does that happen in cartooning also?

Mort Walker, the creator of Beetle Bailey, observed that EVERYONE, even DaVinci or Michaelangelo, starts out as a cartoonist. It’s only thru diligence and practice that they advance from there.That’s not the entire story, of course. As we can see, many strive to achieve or maintain the level of humor present in Frog Applause but fail dramatically.

I will need to read that book before I make a comics collection.
