Wisdom is for the young. You wouldn’t believe the wisdom the 10-year-old kid next door has. He can build a brand new working computer straight from spare parts from Radio Shack whereas myself at the age of 65 still has my VCR clock flashing at 12 o’clock!
Unfortunately, not everybody gets the “wisdom” that comes with age. In our culture, it tends to get drowned out by constant exposure to advertising, flashy media and overwritten by Internet conspiracy theories. Wisdom is distilled contemplation.

which brings the question then, what do you need wisdom for at that age anyway

When you see as many Presidents come and go as I have you begin to wise up with a curious combination of hope and despair.

The Velveteen Rabbit… though that’s more about the power of love than wisdom. But perhaps they are the same thing.
