the relatively new law here in japan that makes bike helmets mandatory only appears to apply to certain folks, judging from all the school age kids still riding around bareheaded, but it’s been entertaining to see mostly older folks, now wearing helmets that don’t fit very well, continuing to engage in the same unsafe behavior as always while riding their bikes. but at least they’re wearing helmets to protect them when they veer into traffic with nary a look left or right…
