We have a large park in the City, and standing next to a trail is a working pay-phone. Tourists, especially young people stop and take pictures of it on their smartphones. Some don’t know what to make of it!!
Just an observation. Back in the day, a good chunk of the shows and movies we watched were set in the past. Westerns, WW2, or Jazz Age gangsters. People picked up history by osmosis. Today there’s plenty of science fiction, but I can’t think of one TV Western
The booth enclosures must have been a waste of money for all those decades. Obviously, by the way people openly yak on their cells, people don’t care if everybody can hear their half of the conversation. And why did Mr. Kent jump into one to take off his street clothes, with the glass walls and all?
About 15 years ago, I was in an amusement park with my wife and daughter. When I saw a pay phone, I did take a picture of it. I identified it in my photo album as a leftover relic of the 20th century.
