His being born on the 4th of July is bad, but it is even worse being born on Christmas Day. People seem to forget you expect both a birthday card and a Christmas card! My advice, if your friends forget your birthday on that day and are caught up just in the holiday commercialism, it is time to dump them!
A fourth of July Birthday is definitely hard to forget. That’s why the wife and I chose the 4th of July for our marriage date so many years back. No excuse for not remembering. Though, I still put it on my calendar. I take no chances. As for Hattie though, very bad form, which is her trademark…..
When I read this, It occurred to me that the dialog could equally be enacted by Gladys and Brutus. That led me to wonder if a peek into the future might reveal the marriage of the grown-up Wilberforce and Hattie. Like father, like son?

If the parts were reversed, it would have been a tragedy.

Wilberforce, it isn’t in Hurricane’s nature to apologize for much of anything.

Not much more Hattie can say…unless she has access to Mr. Peabody’s Wayback Machine.
