I’m glad they realized this so quickly. There’s nothing wrong with being sorry they can’t keep it. It’s only human to wish you could. I hope they will get a reward for their honesty.

You have to remember that it’s not just the money in a wallet but all the credit cards and other such items. As a kid, I found a wallet once and took it to the police station. There was precious little actual cash in it, but that was not the point. The guy was so glad to get it back that he came to our house and gave me a reward.

Yup! Finding a $20 bill in the mall and nobody is around is okay to keep. A wallet with lots of cash probably should be turned in. Do malls have a’lost & found’?

In most cases the right thing to do for the owner of the lost wallet would be to give them a finders fee of at least 10 percent as a reward

So, I just looked it up. Yes, it IS a crime to USE the money in a lost wallet.

I’d take it. But I’m not exactly a guy with morals, so…

I remember accidentally leaving my wallet in a fast-food restaurant. When I returned to retrieve it, someone had kindly turned it in to the staff… minus all the cash in it. At least the important stuff was still there.
