My big dumb Lab met a cat for the first time when he was younger. Looked a lot like this fellow. Carried a permanent scar on his nose-leather for rest of his life. Cat survived, and Sam’s eyes were safe, but he never messed with cats again.
Looks like you came very close to having to follow up with teaching him how to walk using a blind man’s cane. Or maybe having to get him a seeing eye cat or squirrel.
My dog will happily eat off a fork, but only if someone else is holding it. It’s a helpful skill for a hospital therapy dog when patients want to feed her, and they just have a few bites of food left. She’s quite gentle with it and it will draw a few smiles.
