30 years ago we lived about 2 miles from a massive tire dump. Which someone was finally starting to shred. Then it caught fire and burned for months, burning tires being very difficult to extinguish. We were, unfortunately, downwind which ment our house and yard were covered in ash.
Problem is there are far too many tire dumps and far too few being recycled. If there is a tire dump in your area, pray that it never catches fire as it will burn for months and the smoke and ash will coat everything
Is it the correct size? And with new laws, will the date on the tire, will anyone put in on a rim? Age of a tire now makes it illegal to work on some of these tires.
For most tires, this expiration date should be six years from the date of manufacture.Mar 10, 2021Wetherington Law FirmTires Expire in Six Years | Wetherington Law FirmThere is no mandated rule on tire age, but the older they are, the more dangerous they become.
One time I was walking with my dad in Manhattan. He stopped at a garbage can with record albums on top of it and started going through them. I was mortified and surprised. He explained to me that someone no longer wanted the records and by putting them on top of the garbage can’s lid it was understood that if one wanted the records they could have them.
That seems to work out here in the suburbs also – especially since husband and I live on a main road. Done with old copy machine (I took over dad’s office and brought everything home decades ago) left it out on night before first garbage pickup of the week – put a note on it “Works – please take”. Gone within 2 hours. Same with assorted other items over the decades.

I don’t know where this is, but here in Pennsylvania, it’s illegal to put tires in the trash.

Abandoning vehicle tires in the street isn’t the proper way to dispose it.

I don’t understand it. When I buy a tire I’m charged a tire disposal fee. When I take the tire to the dump I’m charged a tire disposal fee.

It might be a good tire if you need one that size, otherwise it’s prime material for recycling into playground cover…

Careful, lads, someone will repurpose it as a planter. Or cut it up for really durable sandals (assuming steel belting). Perhaps a swing for Gracie.

This young man will go places with his glowing optimism. And for cleaning up the improperly disposed trash.

Doesn’t the auto supply store he works at sells tires and have dozens of “good” tires out back?
