What gets me are the uncivilized people who literally throw their trash out the car window right here in “civilization.” Sometimes I wish I could throw it back in at them.
Where I live, we have adopt a highway program. People volunteer to clean up certain sections of a highway. Maybe it’s not perfect, but it does seem to be helping.
See. I was right yesterday when I thought the unnamed boy with the funny Moe the Three Stooges haircut was going to ask Liz out on a date. Taking the girl hiking is a date in my books.
“…And at the bottom of a 10 foot cliff, there was another pile of garbage and rather than bring that one up, we decided to throw ours down” – Alice’s Restaurant
my husband noticed that if you pick up the litter when you walk, it doesn’t get relittered as fast as it does when you don’t pick it up. We generally carry a bag just for that purpose
My mother used to throw things like used tissues, food wrappers, etc out the window in the car when I was very little. I yelled at her, she said it just, “blow away.” I asked her where “away” was, and she had no answer for me. She felt the same way about cigarette smoke. I asked her when I was in middle school about where she thought the smoke went, besides on the walls of our home. She said, “It just blows away.” I said, “You know this is a closed system, right? Are you trying to kill your grandchildren?” She really didn’t get it. Not in the least, and she didn’t care, either.
When my brothers and my son were in boy scouts, one of the first lessons they learned was to leave a campsite cleaner than when they arrived. Still to this day, my son will go out of his way to pick up trash that has been thrown on the ground (as will my husband).
I was driving on the freeway a few years ago and the sub-humans in the car in front of me tossed out a few fast-food bags. I may have signaled their I.Q. when I passed them.

Too bad the Enjos picked such a terrible place to go camping. I could have recommended a few places for them that are very clean and family friendly.

My local park which is pretty big and it’s disgusting that people are too lazy to put their trash in the trash can.

I live in a forest and you would not believe what I find when I’m walking thru the woods. Makes me sick. And I’m not even on the trails.

For sure. I live in the country, it’s amazing what people dump on our dead end road. Beer cans, candy wrappers, juice boxes, you name it.

All you need to screw something beautiful up is throw a few humans into the mix. They do it every time.

And that amount of trash has doubled or tripled since this strip first ran. So many [expletive deleted]s who think the world is their trash can!
