You also learned the difference between figurative and quasi-literal.

Or Calvin could say he now feels like the same train just backed over him.

Does everybody else remember way back when you thought “hyperbole” had three syllables?

If you are already hit by one train, then it doesn’t matter a lot if you get hit by another, does it?

Maybe Calvin doesn’t feel good today and couldn’t wait to tell mom and go to bed and wasn’t in the mood for Hobbes today?

Hobbes is not really all that happy to see Calvin. He just loves a good tackle. I had a cousin like that once. She was awful.

Funny how the early days of school starting wears hard on everyone. Cal is a good example. Hobbes, on the other hand, as been anxiously waiting for his best buddy and just had to welcome him the fun way. Eventually Cal will get into the groove and every return will be an adventure.

I really enjoy the onomatopoeia in the second panel. I feel like it gives that sense of impact.

In the second panel the momentum transfer between the two and the shoes coming out due to inertia is perfect understanding of physics by Bill. The hyperbole matches with the huperloop transport attempts, seamlessly.
