What lovely shedding. Mow the leaves and let them mulch into the ground. Beauty for our eyes and benefits for nature. If hand raking, hold the rake in front of you and drag it to you as you walk backwards. No straining or twisting of the back.
No change in color in NYC yet. Plenty of cooler weather, windy and rainy days. Nice for sleeping at night. All 4 of my kitties were on the bed last night and even left room for me. Take note, Floof!
As much as I dislike even cooler weather, I do enjoy walking through piles of leaves off the tress. I like the sound, my dog likes the walk, and it should be coming up soon. A week or so after our condo’s lawn service mulches the leaves, my tree in front will drop all its leaves, and they will stay on the ground until spring. Every year.
Lots of happy memories of my Dad raking the leaves into a big pile and then letting us jump and play in it and throw leaves at each other. Then he raked it back up and burn the pile. You can’t do that anymore, of course, but the smell was wonderful. Now, I fear it would just bring back thoughts of all those terrible wildfires of late.
I love walking through the park and hearing the leaves crunch and looking for the reddest, most perfect leaves.
I can’t wait until tomorrow to see what Kate and Sirius get into.
I so love this image. Would love to see Sirius doing his best through piles and piles of leaves. Hopefully, we’ll see him in deep snow too! HINT! I love watching dogs lose their minds playing in the snow!
