I turned 70 a few months ago. I’m starting to feel like HAL-9000 in “2001” when Dave starts disconnecting it. “I can feel it. My mind is going. I’m afraid.”
This hits close to home for me. Except that I wasn’t the wallet’s owner, but the fellow who found it. I was on my way to my sister’s when I saw a wallet by the side of the road, across from a filling station/convenience store. My sister and I called the police to report it. Turned out that they’d just gotten a call from the owner, reporting the loss. The officer who came to my sister’s place told us that the owner had stopped at the convenience store for a large coffee. when she came out of the store, she placed her wallet and coffee on the roof of her car in order to fish out her car keys. She grabbed the coffee but not the wallet. It fell from the roof of the car as she drove off. It was just a coincidence that I happened along before the police did.

Back when I still had a landline I would use it to phone my cell phone at least twice a month. Cancelled the landline to save $80 a month.

Got a call from a store. I left my credit card there. I thanked them a lot.

My glasses disappeared overnight. It’s a good thing I have a spare pair.

Did they call to tell you that you left your credit cards at home and to bring them when you retrieve your wallet?
