We dodged all but a couple weeks of unbearable temperatures (99+) but the drought goes on. Pessimistically this may be the normal for the US West Coast for the next couple centuries. If not worse.

When I was a kid it didn’t start until September. Nowadays it seems that school is starting in the middle of August.
