I don’t know if this is true, but I heard that you should never say “Yes” to any question a cold call salesman says to you… even if it seems to be an innocuous question. For example, a question like, “Do you make any purchasing decisions for your household?” The reason being, if they are recording the phone call, they can use the clip where you said “yes” to “prove” that you agreed to something else.
Whenever I get the “We are calling you to inform you that your Windows computer has a virus” spam call I always try to keep them on the line by saying that I have multiple computers and ask them which one they are talking about.
Years ago, I got a call from a long distance phone company who asked me if I wanted to save money on my long distance calls. I said “no” and he went into a long tirade about why I would want to pay more money for my long distance calls, etc. etc. etc. (I rarely made them, so I didn’t care one way or the other, just didn’t want to go through the hassle of changing carriers.)
… To appear more like one of those people who you want to drench with a bucket of cold water over the head, when they talk loudly on their phone in public.
Sometimes I’ll get a call where all I’ve said is “Hello” and then the person on the other end just launches into a long spiel. I listen politely for as long as they want to go on, but when they finally hit a pause (sometimes after asking a question) I just say “Que?” Usually they just go right away; I take some satisfaction in having wasted as much of their time as they did of mine.

If anyone were actually paying attention to him, they might wonder why he lied to his good friend Bhavesh about being busy.

When recovering from Brain surgery that affected my speech I used to practice with Telemarketers because they did not want to hang up

Have often gotten the recording that starts “Don’t hang up!” Of course I instantly hang up.

Not a real job. Not to be mistaken for a real job. Not to be treated as a real job.

The girl that Monty is trying to impress is busy with her phone and ignoring him.

Monty’s desperation is a hint at his Universal Loser status!
The blonde is totally disinterested in him….
