The wonderful BBC program QI has posed the question “how many moons does the Earth have” more than once, and given a different answer each time ;-) Here’s a compilation… >
Well, if one looks at a near object with a far object in the background with both eyes open, one appears double depending on which is being focused on, so we the “viewer” are focusing on Garf, Arlene and Odie, so the moon is double.

Odie found his own moon to howl at but he didn’t have to move so it doesn’t do Garfield and Arlene any good.

They’re on Mars. Jupiter has a lot of moons, but the atmosphere is always terrible for seeing them.

“QUIET, ODIE! GO HOWL AT YOUR OWN MOON!”
(senses an unusual appearance of the speaker of this part of the dialogue of this cartoon)
