A financial consultant once asked us why we preferred to put some of our money in Green Century, which works mainly with more ethical companies when a “regular” fund would earn us a bit more money. He just didn’t get it.
This arc is based on the premise that corporations engaging in unethical behaviour will be more profitable. However, especially in the long run, that will not necessarily be true if regulatory agencies and especially the media do their jobs properly. Bad publicity is not great for the bottom line.
