I had a boyfriend who really, really, really liked giving presents. I finally told him that I wanted an industrial steam iron. He got it for me. (They are PRICEY, trust me.) It was the most romantic present I ever had from any boyfriend!

All that was years ago. I attended his wedding (to someone else), he gives her presents, and I still have the iron, use it, and treasure it.

I was 16 when I first worked in my father’s dime store. I almost immediately checked the mannequins to see what clothing size they wore. It was 12. This was 1963 when size 12 was not what size 12 is now. I think they’d be a 2 or 4 in today’s sizes.

I asked for ‘white shoulders’ cologne for Christmas on e year. I got a juicer. He wanted a juicer. I got to do all the work and he got fresh juice, as usual.

How about a mannequin wearing a ring with a Jolly Rancher Gem-stone? Problem solved!

I too have an artist wife. Give him specifics. In fact so specific that he can’t go wrong. Like a text with the URL of the mannequin you desire. If you want to leave him with options (so more like he picked it out) give him choices.

Just do what my wife does, she orders it from Amazon and tells me what I bought her.

At first all I could think of was a dress form mannequin, but more likely it’s for her to use to pose for her drawings.

Amanda, if I’m right, please don’t go making all your people drawings look the same…After all, how would be able to recognize any of you guys. Of course once your words pop up we’d know right away….
