I worry myself that I can get so annoyed at a “cartoon”. Is this insanity?

I always wonder how such an active and positive woman as Flo can have raise such a procrastinating looser as Jack (or how she can tolerate him and his ways). Does anyone remember any hint about his father?

Flo had a thing with Mr.Dithers from Blondie, and he’s been paying child support ever since.

Jack is the kind of character that can only exist as a trope in fictional fantasy. They add to the comic dynamics but in real life would never be tolerated with anything but scorn.

Maybe not! Exaspiration, yes. Impatience, certainly. Irritation, of course. But just scorn? Nope.

He’s welcome to move out and have all the privacy he can buy.

While this is more reality than I should aim at a comic, i’ve wondered what happens when life kicks you around in your early fifties. Unexpected Divorce, laid off, blind sided, you find your lower level job turned out to have been a dead end for a long time with no comparable work to switch over to. The comparable people in our extended family developed health problems that left them suddenly dependent on wives and relatives while still in their fifties, all had jobs they needed to work at till they were in their late sixties, didn’t pan out. We talk a lot about unmotivated young people without future prospects. But there are a lot of Uncle Jacks out there.

Yeah, any plans like get a job?
