Best of all, it is my LAST DAY OF WORK before my 2-week vacation!. I’ve been counting the days for a few weeks now. Now, I’m counting the hours.
Oliver must still be sleepwalking. Gorgeous short hike yesterday through a flower filled wet meadow, aspens and pines along a roaring creek. Had it to myself for nearly 2 hours until meeting another hiker with a beautiful Belgian Malinous (sp), the breed often used as police dogs. Silly 90 pound dog kept dropping tiny little pine cones on my shoe for me to throw!
Out and about yesterday, we saw a new bbq place in downtown St George so we went in for lunch. It was cafeteria style.Got to the end to pay and when I tried to had her $40 she said they only take cards – no cash. We hadn’t seen any signs about it so I said I didn’t have a card. (I did but I don’t use it for meals. Never have) She looked at me for a beat – maybe judging to see if I would pony up a credit card. Nope. The owner was walking by and said ‘No charge’. I said I appreciated it but he can’t just give away food like that. I tried to give HIM the cash, maybe just put it in his pocket. Nope, he wouldn’t take it. The beef brisket was excellent. The two sides we got were fine. If it wasn’t for the NO CASH part, we’d go back.As we were leaving, I stopped to talk to the owner and thank him again. I’d wondered why the ‘no cash’ thing and told Brad it was probably to prevent robberies. I was right. He said someone is there 7/24 in the back using the smoker.So- my thought was if they remove all of the cash at the end of the day, a thief would still break in. He/she wouldn’t know there wasn’t any cash.
I clipped the claws (all 4 paws including the extra toes) of ‘my’ Oliver this morning. He didn’t yowl or protest once, probably because I did it on the porch. Tyler got ‘furminated’. So much hair was removed that several birds’ nests could have been created if I had put it outside. Tyler is a short hair with a much heavier/thicker coat than bro Oliver. Last but not least, all 4 kitties got kitty wiped.
I need to get a straight jacket for kitty claw trimming for Dudley and Sonny. Sonny is gentler and I would probably be able to overpower her with a big beach towel. That Dudley could be a super feline named ‘Razor Claw Kitty’. When he kneads me I dare not startle him. An ambulance should be standing by!
My daughter has some contraption she puts her calico kitty in, but I’ve never seen her do it. Once Dudley was fast asleep next to me. I took a chance and was able to trim all his claws. Talk about sound asleep! He’s never been that sound asleep again! I keep a pair of claw clippers next to my recliner in case.
Either that mouse doesn’t know that Oliver is a cat, or he’s taking unfair advantage of his generosity. For Oliver’s sake, I hope it’s the former. I also hope that mouse doesn’t come across Lily. On another note, saw a spotted towhee, a rabbit, a dragonfly, four chickadees, and a Wilson’s warbler while out walking today.
