Mortimer is learning that English is harder than catching criminals.

I got letters from my dog when I was in Navy Boot Camp.

Mortimer pretending to be a “dumb dog,” but slipping up. Hence the striking out of the correct spelling of “camp” and “exciting.” In order to keep up the charade, he should have done a better job of scratching out the words.

Kids, whatever you do, don’t show that letter to your grandma, the retired teacher. The first word alone would freak her out.
