I would say poor Linus, but people shouldn’t believe fairy tales.

After reading the first panel, I was of the same attitude as Lucy in the second.

The kid’s response is weird. Kids are always open to getting gifts. That kid should say, “Cool. We get candy and gifts. That’s neat.”

The problem is not that Linus is wrong; it’s that he’s different.

Weird can become annoying if you have to live with it (him).

easier than the other major holiday – all you gotta do is find a sincere pumpkin patch, sleep out in it one night and believe. For Christmas, you gotta be good all year to get stuff – Way too hard for this dude.

It can be hard for a prophet to find honor anywhere.

Linus is no prophet, he’s trying to be a cult leader. Luckily, most people call him out on his BS.

Not all prophets were recognized during their lifetime, let alone their own country……

Some conspiracy theorists posit that Schulz tried to create a holiday to increase sales of Peanuts’ ephemera as gifts from the Great Pumpkin.

It’s actually kind of wild how Linus can mostly quote the Bible then immediately go forth to spread the word of the Great Pumpkin.

“The Great Pumpkin” is a great satire on people who believe in stuff with no factual backing.

Not any weirder than Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, and just as ‘imaginary’ as ‘God.’

Sometimes social rejection is necessary.

I love it — Linus can quote Scripture blindfolded with one hand tied behind his back and then go out and evangelize The Great Pumpkin. A Pagan evangelist? <3 <3 <3

Linus is just a little confused. Schulz said his idea was, what if a kid got a holiday ahead of himself, and expected presents at Halloween. I believe he also said that he was rather proud of the originality of that idea.
