It’s not about doing nothing. The problem is the government tends to do the wrong thing. Obama has losers like Solyndra. And Biden is repeating the same mistakes. Just pumping tax dollars to their supporters.
We do not and likely will never have the technology and ability to control the climate.
As a group, the human race’s reigning dominant power wielders demonstrate constantly that they have the technology, the ability and the rock-hard intent to keep affecting our climate adversely and abundantly, planet-wide.
Only a blind fool would believe that there is no such thing as anthropogenic climate change nor that we can not reverse or at least slow that change provided we have not reached the tipping point. Cases in point acid-rain—that at the time was claimed not to be a problem; the increasing ozone hole—again with the “it’s not a problem” claim. And yet, both issues were addressed and fixed by one, taking the lead and sulfur out of vehicle gas and two, taking cloroflorocarbons off the market. Why the initial foot dragging? Money, simple as that. And going forward, too many are clinging to the “there’s nothing we can do” because…money.
Must be nice to be a MAGA baby boomer. They can repeat Big Oil’s BS at no charge and not be around to witness the full consequences of what they forced onto their kids, grandkids, and every generation after that. Their solution is to throw in the towel, to he|| with the children.
Meanwhile, the more caring baby boomers and younger generations are doing what we can to help make sure civilization sees at least a couple more centuries. There will be ideas that work and there will be ideas that don’t work, but trying is a lot better than giving up on the environment like the MAGA crowd. It’s a shame that money and oil aren’t edible.
There are too many people on the planet. Everything we do to fight climate change is just a band-aid. Not that I have anything against band-aids to give us a little time to stop the growth of population.
Population growth has to stop sometime; sooner would be less painful as later.
There is no “We” in that scenario. All those who forced their religious ways on us not to take action would have died from staring into the hot Sun for Jesus.
The climate is changing. We can argue about why it’s changing but that accomplishes nothing. Can we do anything about it? No one knows for sure. Should we try? Of course we should!
Sorry, the matter of climate is no longer going to be decided by the United States. We have done more than anyone, we have cleaner air than Europe, and cleaner water, we have done plenty, and we sent money all over the world. China, S. America, India that is where it is going to be decided and you can’t ask two and a half billion people to stay in poverty forever. We offered leadership and the world didn’t follow. Keep what we have but keep all of it, domestic oil production it is better than bringing it from overseas.

You don’t need a fire, just hang it out in the sun and hope the stick doesn’t catch fire.
BTW, where’s mom? She died in childbirth.
