Yah, maybe so, but if nobody says you’re the bad guy but you come to that conclusion (or question) yourself because of something you did (or didn’t do, or took too long to do), then you’ve messed up, at any rate.

Mrs. Olsen is applying the law of force. If she keeps putting pressure on Caulfield, he’ll either buckle up or he’ll buckle. Either way his way forward will continue.
