Not so peacefully is soooo true! Sounds like 8 billion of us need to take a shower. Not sure what is going to be happening with AI, but I know what is happening with the polar ice cap. One way or another ~ we are doomed!!

The Sun will continue on like any other star in the same category and eventually burn out and the internal pressure will win over gravity causing expansion to somewhere between the orbit of Mars and about ½ way across the Asteroid Belt. Earth’s atmosphere and oceans will boil away and any and all life will vaporize. Maybe the life on Europa or Encedalus or Titan will survive. After the expansion a very quick subsidence will reduce the Sun to the size of a white dwarf. But that’s in about 4 – 5 billion years or so +/- 500,000,000 years.

This is somewhat backwards, IMHO. At the current rate of self-destructive behaviour, humans will die out long, long before the Earth ends. The Earth will survive just fine without us.

The Earth will do just fine long after we might make it uninhabitable for human beings. Maybe dinosaurs will be “in” again for a few million years.
