I do not miss waking my children on weekdays. It was such a struggle to get them dressed, eating breakfast and catching the school bus. But I do miss having them home. There in there 30’s now and have their children to struggle with.
Madeline is great, fresh, cheery, persuasive as a mother should be. Alice is indeed a grumpy little preschooler, but to be fair she probably does need more sleep than her daily routine allows….
When in elementary school, to be the first one up was best. You got to sit on the floor in front of the furnace register, and get warm before breakfast and dressing for school. Sister and I lived in the drafty attic, and since parents kept the house at 53 over night, it was wonderful to get warm.
