Well, Brutus, any day you don’t have to eat her cooking is a reason to celebrate.

He likes the way she thinks here.

On October 8, 1871, Mrs. O’Leary’s cow kicked over the lantern and started the Great Chicago Fire.

This Saturday would have been a significant date for my late Wife and I. Fortieth wedding anniversary. We stopped using that date because her Mother passed away on that day. We would just use a weekend day before or after.

You’re well on your way to half a century together. For the 40th anniversary, it’s all ruby everything. From the traditional and modern gifts to the gemstone and color, ruby is the name of the game to celebrate the big 40th. Symbolically rubies run the gamut from beauty, protection, wisdom, and power. …And deep down, Brutus is celebrating the fact that he doesn’t have to eat Gladys’ underwhelming cooking.

Thus starts the “Where do you want to go?” exchanges.

We are celebrating day 6 of the day we should have gone grocery shopping.

That can be said of every day.

Thank goodness my wife is more considerate of our budget. When she wants to celebrate the day she asks me to cook.

Happy 8th everybody!

Technically the 8th October is the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire, but most people don’t consider that a celebration any longer.

If You like, tomorrow the 9th October, is Columbus Day, so today is Columbus Eve. Technically, Columbus discovered America on the 12th of October, 1492, but since most Americans prefer to move the holidays celebrations over to Mondays of the week (except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and 4th July) we can celebrate Columbus day tomorrow.

We’ll take a leaf from your book :).

Brutus inaugurated the holiday by saying, “Hellow, Sweetheart.” Gladys is saying, “If you really mean that, then let’s celebrate.” Ahh, ain’t love grand.

It’s both our “UN-birthdays”!

Brutus, celebrate the fact it will just be you and Gladys and that you’re not having to eat Mother Gargle’s cooking.

I like her attitude.

Win win here. Gladys doesn’t have to cook and Brutus doesn’t have to (try to) eat it! He: what did you make for dinner? She: reservations!

It’s somebody’s unbirthday!

Used to be special to me. It was my parents wedding anniversary but they’re both gone now.   : (

Somehow, I knew that look on her face when he greeted her meant a night out for dinner. Gladys looks happy and relaxed, not like someone who just tried to make another tolerable dinner and wearing white slacks at that. I just wondered what her logic was, and it was good.

As good a reason as any.

Let’s make this a regular celebration.

Don’t you what is so special about TODAY? It just happens to be the ‘Day before Tomorrow’ and coincidently, it is also the the ‘Day after Yesterday.’

The fact that Brutus came home from work in a good mood instead of being all bedraggled would seem to be reason enough to celebrate.

Now there’s a great logic for you, Gladys is good model for Wilberforce…

… and I burned the roast and want the smoke to clear from the kitchen before you come all the way into the house. ;P

My younger kitties turn 16 months today. Every 8th of the month we celebrate.
