I do use reusable bags. The plastic ones at the market have a LOT of uses after I empty them out. So many that sometimes I have to sneak a couple extra empty ones when I checkout at the store.

Once used plastic store bags, but, years ago, when the insulated bags hit the market I bought a bunch. They now are torn and duct taped but, during the recent record heat summers, they saved me from a lot of grief and spoiled goods. Also found that the foil liners for the big box home delivered meals etc also help. Lined a box to hold the insulated bags of groceries so I get a double layer between goods and heat. Prices too high to risk losing even a little bit.

At the drug store and three of us in line. Person in front of me being served. Clerk tells me to use the self serve machine. I decline. Women behind me goes to use it. I get served and am leaving. The woman is still fighting the machine. Another time at another place, I was forced to self check out. It took 3 associates and 30 minutes to complete the purchase, how convenient!!!

When we do get plastic bags at the store, we bring them to our church that runs an “open market” where we give away food. Our “shoppers” use them.

Also the cases in which I buy my wine are the perfect size for the deliveries we make to families who can’t make it to the market.

Always in the car…right next to my purse so I can’t forget them.

Make reusable bags with a bar code on them, and when scanned at checkout, you get 50 cents off your purchase.

I do NOT use reusable bags. Beside the fact that it is an intrusion on my personal patterns of life, I use the disposables to clean out the cat box. They then go in the garbage. I depend on them, no pun intended.

Don’t forget to take your discount for doing your own checking and bagging. A package of steaks should do nicely.

When plastic bags are outlawed, what will dog walkers use?

If you use reusable bags don’t forget to wash them, they can easily hold salmonella.

Who needs bags?—I have a grocery cart!

Forget them in the UK and you will end up buying (they don’t cost much but they aren’t free) however many required to hold your groceries. A free bag is almost non-existent.

More often, it’s shoppers who just planned to get three things and are clutching seven items.
