That happened to me back in high school.

Many years ago, there was a Hi And Lois strip in which Dot noticed a blue-haired woman at the supermarket, and asked Lois why her hair was blue. To avoid public embarrassment, Lois tried distracting her with various products, but all Dot cared about was the woman’s blue hair.

Blonde cheerleader in high school thought it would be fun to color her hair green for St Patrick’s day. She used green food coloring thinking it would wash out. It didn’t!

The jar said “emerald green”. Did she think it was a metaphor?

Just color irresponsible.

This actually does happen with a rare combination of shampoo ingredients and hair chemistry. There was a UK movie called “The Boy with Green Hair” about such a case and the prejudice that resulted. This was back in the 20th Century.

I toured Sweden with a traveling theatre company that performed a lot in schools. We saw a lot of girls with colored streaks in their hair, as that was the fad at the time. At one school, it was odd that there were no students with the streaks. It wasn’t legal to make that kind of a dress code there at that time, so we wondered why. Then we met our contact, an English teacher. She thought it was cool, so she put a purple streak in her hair. Suddenly, all of the kids got rid of theirs. She (and we) thought that was hilarious.

Have to laugh at myself as my first thought was to ask if she had a son named Ferb living in Danville.

Wasn’t there a sci-fi film in the 50s about a boy who turned green?

Maybe she mixed up her facial mud with her hair dye.
