There are always more rules. It takes a while to learn which ones you can safely ignore.

Replace shoes with clothes and school with work and same.

Ha! He thinks school has too many rules. Wait till you grow up!

Mrs. M has seen and heard it all…..

Hope Wallace never has to suffer the Spanish boot.

Wallace did remind Mom about the rule of not putting boots on the table in the recent story arc which finished on Saturday. I commented at the time that it is easier to remember rules when someone else breaks them.

“There’s a snake on my boot!”

So, who’s being schooled now?

Meanwhile, Spud is quietly sitting at his desk, eating smoked gouda cheese.

Seagull has no rules – he’s nowhere to be seen!

School and Mrs. Macintosh are easing Wallace gently into the grownup world of rules and regulations.

One of those rules is “no poking Wallace with a stick…” so maybe not too many rules.

Tight shoes is a metaphor for being constricted in life, or in this case, school.

I’m with you Wallace, my feet hate shoes. I hope you don’t end up with a job that required steel-toe shoes later in life. My feet would scream at me after 12 hours in those torture devices.

Minimalist shoes might help him. I wear Xero brand and lime them =)

I went to grammar school in a multilevel building (on a hillside) whose staff tried to save on cleaning. Shoes or boots are to be left in your coat cubby on entering, and the sound of sock feet pounding on thinly carpeted stairs is frequent throughout the day.

Get used to it, kid!
