In reply to a question put to me yesterday – how is my second book coming? I was on a roll for a while, then I had those 3 cats turn up missing and I could not focus on anything else and I got no writing done at all until I recovered all 3 cats. I’m getting back into it now.
By the way, the 3 cats who got lost and found are so happy to be back home. Pebbles has become more affectionate than ever, Panther still won’t let me touch her (though I sneak in a touch now and then), but she lets me get closer than I used to be able to and she even touches my outstretched fingers with her nose sometimes. And sometimes I can even get her to lick food off my fingers. But Annie has made the most progress in the taming of the feral. No, I can’t walk up to her and pick her up anytime I want, but I am able to pet her quite a bit at feeding time and I have been picking her up more too, She doesn’t always approve of me picking her up, but she enjoys the scratching behind her ears while I’m holding her.
The worst mess and smell for me was after Fred had been skunked and vomited all over the house. I nearly did the same while cleaning it up, and of course my bare feet found more the next morning. Did he learn anything? Nope, he still wants to trot after one any time he sees them.
I thought I’d get away with avoiding it after all this time, but yesterday I tested positive for covid. The tip off that led me to test was that I couldn’t smell anything and food tasted dull and a bit off. I had what I thought was just a cold earlier in the week, but I guess it was more than that. I’m feeling okay generally, and I’ve been vaccinated.
“Kitty surprise” sounds really funny. Don’t know why “hairball” would be considered politically incorrect, but hey, who’s going to argue with cats? On another note, saw a squirrel, a rabbit, and two juncos while out walking today.

Departures, we have more of those here than LaGuardia! I need my own air traffic control!

That Kitty Surprise usually happens at 4AM, with you in bare feet. Why did Toshie have to cough one up IN FRONT OF THE TOILET?

Moose and his brother run to make sure they miss the hard flooring and get it right on the edge of any rug. What thoughtful kitties.

There is a cat word for it. It’s onomatopeia and is pronounced exactly like gagging up a hairball (sounds Welsh to me).

What about expectorated departures?

KITTY SURPRISE. Oh, yeah!!!!!!!!!!
Of course, if preceded by a hork or multi horks, the surprise is almost as distasteful.
*Always wise to have bedroom slippers close at hand/or foot and a flashlight if during the wee hours.
