Saturday right as the eclipse was at totality we suddenly heard very loud crashing cymbals and out of seemingly nowhere a complete marching band appeared and proceeded to march the entire length of our street as they very loudly played (seemed very loud on a quiet Saturday morning on our residential street!) It was the band from our local high school (according to their uniforms) but we never have found out WHY they were marching down our street in the middle of an eclipse!

Jon’s constant preference for irrelevancy is impressive. Even Liz is impressed.

The only accordion music I’ve cared for was when Lawrence Welk played it on his show. As an instrument in a Zydeco band, the accordion is good, but it’s rare, in my opinion, that it is a good stand alone instrument.

I haven’t seen one since the ’70s at a family Italian restaurant in KCMO. I thought they had gone extinct since.

I think that the players are trying to out run a mob of accordion-haters while playing their swan song.

Strolling fujara players are even scarcer, at least outside the White Carpathians and Tatras.

Come on, Jon. Strolling accordion players? Why, we don’t see accordion players, much less strolling ones. Shoot. There could be some folks that don’t even know what an accordion is. The last time I saw an accordion being played was during an old rerun of the Lawrence Welk Show on an ETV station. Although, truth to tell, I do know of a fellow clarinetist that plays the accordion in a German band, but I’ve never seen him play it. Yes, sir, there, a strolling accordion player would be rare.
