“Trump’s Republican administration had issued the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) seven leases a day before Biden’s inauguration.” Reuters
Trump issued the leases the day before Biden’s inauguration, hmmm….
A U.S. District Court upheld the Department of the Interior’s authority to suspend leases and oil and gas activities on lands held sacred by the Gwich’in Peoples of Alaska and Canada. The Court dismissed all claims made by the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) and the State of Alaska in a lawsuit attempting to force the Department of the Interior to move forward an illegal drilling program on the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Trustees for Alaska intervened in that lawsuit on behalf of the Gwich’in Steering Committee, Alaska Wilderness League and allied groups to defend the Department of the Interior’s suspension of leases and oil and gas activities.

It would seem to me that even if we need to drill for oil, there are plenty of places easier and less expensive (let alone less environmentally sensitive) to do so.

Critics accuse President Joe Biden of waging a war on the oil industry that is hurting consumers at the gas pump. And yet, on his watch, US oil production is poised to shatter all-time records set during the Trump administration.
US oil output is now projected to rise to an average of 12.8 million barrels per day this year for the first time ever, according to federal estimates released Tuesday.
For context, that’s about half a million barrels per day more than the prior annual record set in 2019. It’s also more oil than any other country on the planet produces — the next-closest nation, Saudi Arabia, produces about 10 million barrels per day, according to OPEC.
Yup.. can’t be letting Alaska develop it’s oil reserves. Makes it too desirable for Putin and he will be wanting to take Alaska back, much like he wants the Ukraine.
Just listened to an oil & gas guy who goes by the moniker of “Mr Global” who said the following:1) This does not effect the Willow Project.
2) He said that Biden canceled leases on land that will never be drilled on to make the people happy that he made mad when he approved the Willow Project.
3) Biden canceled leases sold at the very end of the Trump Admin. (Last week) setting up the next Pres if he lost, knowing they would cancel it & if he won, he could say he opened up Anwar.
4) None of the oil companies had bid on those leases or had any interest in them because no oil company wants to drill in Anwar or have anything to do with Anwar.
5) There has only been 1 well drilled in Anwar and it was over 40 years ago and it yielded zero oil. (its since been capped)
6) Not a single oil company placed a single bid on any of these leases. Anwar is & always has been a political football.
7) Dems think its a big win and Repubs are mad but he says its all over absolute nothing and you are being played by the politicians.
8) He says it was a dumb move politically because he did it to appease people who would vote for him anyways and it just gives Repubs talking points on an issue and most people know nothing about.
9) Says this did nothing for the environment because there is not a drop of oil coming out of Anwar, there wasn’t going to be oil out of Anwar, no oil company on this planet had any interest in drilling in Anwar.
Fossil fuels allow affordable travel, affordable heating and cooling, and affordable food. Fracked natural gas comes from tiny areas of land. [Unlike wind power and solar power which require tremendous amounts of land and lots of mining for cobalt, etc. Of course, the ‘greenies’ are also against using nuclear power, which is useful 24/7/365, giving off water vapor from cooling towers, which ISN’T harmful!]
Pretty much the same cartoon could’ve been used to show the Trump administration weakening the EPA rules. So the Biden admin is finally getting religion and cutting back on fossil fuel production. Well, it’s about time, Joe. For a while there I thought you really were in the back pocket of big oil like your Repub cousins.
Stand by for another oil embargo — Anybody remember the gas station lineups? Has the Strategic Oil Reserve been refilled? Are we even close to a no fossil fuel economy? Fugidaboutit!!
Hey, they aren’t using the other leases they already had, so they really don’t need leases to drill in areas that would be ridiculously expensive to drill responsibly in. Oh, right, they had not intention of being responsible drilling in those areas.
Blowing one Birthday candle will NOT save mankind. When it comes down to the last two men, they will Not agree on Something & with no laws & no one else to stop them, one will kill the other. Soon after mankind will be extinct, as is 90% of every lifeform that has Ever walked the Earth or swam the seas!
There’s a major catastrophe brewing, and it’s going to hit every American hard. When it does, the Biden administration will likely cook up a lame excuse to distance themselves from this nightmare that’s unfolding. But, the truth is that what’s about to come down is 100 percent on Joe Biden. The bottom line is that you’re about to see your utilities skyrocket. You might think they’re high now, but thanks to Joe’s shenanigans in Alaska, everything is about to go off the rails, literally and figuratively. -Revolver News

Lisa’s ‘education’ consisted of passing art classes — which makes her So knowledgeable about oil economics.
She displays that awesome knowledge again with today’s cartoon.

Apparently “a contract is a contract is a contract” is no longer a contract. Must have been a loophole.

Those were leases being sold on speculation and not being used for oil production.

Better to have North Slope wind farms than oil spills. Republicans are afraid the wind turbines will harm the penguins though
